View the full video of Comedian Warren Thomas "Death, What Happens?"

Last week we were informed that Warren Thomas had passed away on September 2nd in New York City. This year's San Francisco Comedy Day in the Park (October 9) is dedicated to Warren and that evening the Punchline (444 Battery St., San Francisco) will have a special comic's memorial show for Warren at 8 pm. I will be attending both and performing at the Punchline.
 
My daughter is January Thomas, Warren's surviving spouse.

Prior to becoming my son in-law in 1998, Warren was a close friend and frequent companion for many years. Warren and I met in San Francisco on the comedy circuit in 1984. He was one of the funniest, most intellectual, charismatic individuals I have met. Despite the later strains in our relationship, I always loved Warren  and believed in his talent.

During the early days of the Free Speech Show, Warren Thomas was the comedian who closed the monologue segment of most shows before the panel discussion. The following is a video clip of Warren's commentary on one of those magical evenings. It was 1997 and the topic was "Death, What Happens?" Prior to Warren's set, Nora Dunn, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Kataoka, Jane Edith Wilson, Tom Sharpe and others had presented their thoughts. Warren delivered this gem of a set where he talks about his views of death.

My condolences and warmest thoughts go out to January and the Thomas family. Warren was a unique person and we will never see another person with his special talents again.
